Itinerary of the Sacred Valley of the Inca, Pisac & Ollantaytambo Full-Day Tour from Cusco

Day 1: Pisac Inca Town - Artisan Market - Urubamba - Ollantaytambo - Chinchero

For Sacred Valley of the Incas, Pisac and Ollantaytambo Tour, Peru Spirit Adventure will pick you up from where ever you are staying in Cusco, Urubamba, or Ollantaytambo. Pick-up from Cusco will be at 7:30 am, from Urubamba at 8:00 am, and if you will stay in Ollantaytambo your pick-up will be at 8:30 am.

Assuming you start the tour from Cusco, after pick you up at 7:30 am in the morning, you will start your fascinating Tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas by leaving Cusco and you’ll be accompanied by an expert local guide who will be happy to answer any of your questions. First, you will visit the Awanacancha or alpacas and llamas farm, where you will have the opportunity to view the traditional weavers in action using dyed wool yarns from alpaca, llama, vicuna, etc. also, you will have chance to pet alpacas and llamas and take selfies with them and then you will continue driving to the great lookout point of gorgeous Peru’s Sacred Valley to witness the picturesque landscape and take pictures.

Afterwards, you will visit the Pisac Archeological Center located high above the valley floor and the modern colonial town of Pisac, the ruins are considered to be one of the finest remaining Inca archeologic sites in the country that contains incredible Inca terraces, housing areas, irrigation canals, drinking water fountains, homes, religious and ceremonial sites, and a cemetery, after exploring the Pisac ruins with your private guide, you will visit the world-famous artisan’s local market in the picturesque town of Pisac.

After exploring the Inca ruins of Pisac and its market at the entrance to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you’ll continue the tour by taking a beautiful scenic drive along the Urubamba River toward Urubamba town through different villages. At Urubamba town, you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at one of the premier restaurants in the whole Valley.

After lunch, you will continue on to the Ollantaytambo Archeological Complex which is one of the most beautiful, and significant, sites in the entire Sacred Valley region and is rich with history that your guide will share. At Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo, discover the perfection of the Imperial Period Incan stonework and visit the unfinished temples high above the village on the mountainside, as well as observe the impressive buildings created out of gigantic boulders and learn of the ancient heritage from your private guide visiting the temples and enclosures that are very well preserved from the Incas time.

Ollantaytambo is also a charming village that preserves the original design of the Inca planners, where you will see the oldest dwellings continuously inhabited, where people still live in the same houses and palaces as 500 years ago. Among its most impressive attractions is the spectacular Temple of the Sun whose 100 tons of construction rocks were brought from 5 miles away. This magnificent fortress was needed to guard the entrance to the Sacred Valley of the Incas including to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Once the tour is over, we will drop you off at your hotel in Ollantaytambo, Urubamba, train station, or another place. If the tour of the Sacred Valley ends in Cusco, on your way back to Cusco, we will make one last stop in Chinchero, a typical Andean agricultural village, where the women display their textiles next to the Inca sites. After Chinchero, your private guide and driver will return you to your Cusco hotel to enjoy the rest of your evening leisure time. We arrive at Cusco around 6:00 pm.

  • Entrance Fees: You must have the tourist ticket to enter to the Inca ruins of Pisac, Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. The tourist ticket is currently 70 soles for a one day ticket or 130 soles for a 10 day ticket. This one ticket will give you access to many other locations in the Sacred Valley, as well as some museums and places of interest in Cusco.
  • Lunch: We will stop in Urubamba for a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. If you prefer another location, please feel free to tell your guide. This meal is not included in your tour cost.
  • Tip for your guide is optional but sometimes extra is always welcome, especially considering their work
  • Travel interruption & travel medical/evacuation insurance (required)

NOTE ON THE ENTRANCE TICKETS

The entrance fee to the archaeological and tourist sites are not included. Please note that you will need to purchase a tourist pass to enter the sites on this tour. You can purchase a partial ticket pass (Boleto Turistico Partial) whose cost is PEN 70 Peruvian soles (about USD 20 per ticket) which allows you to access only four historical sites in the Sacred Valley like Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, and Chinchero.

However, if you plan to visit historical sites in both Cusco and the Sacred Valley, we recommend you purchase the general admission ticket (Boleto Turistico General) whose cost is PEN 130 Peruvian Soles (about USD 40 per ticket), this ticket allows you to visit 14 historical sites, which are located in Sacred Valley, Cusco (Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay) Southern part of Cusco, and some museums in Cusco city. The general tourist ticket is valid for 10 days.

The Maras salt ponds ticket is not part of the boleto turistico parcial or boleto turistico general (partial or general ticket), this ticket should be purchased at the entrance of the same place, whose cost is PEN 10 Peruvian soles (about USD 4 per ticket).

The Cathedral and Q’oricancha (Temple of the Sun) are separate entrance tickets and are PEN 25 Peruvian soles (about USD 8 per ticket) and PEN 15 Peruvian soles (about USD 5 per ticket).

Important Note: It is not necessary to purchase the Cusco Tourist Tickets (either partial or general) in advance, as you can get it at the first site we visit on the tour.
