You can start our one day Machu Picchu tour by train in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba in the Sacred Valley, in Cusco, or in Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of the ruins. See below for more information on transfer times.

  • 1-day excursion to Machu Picchu by train leaving from the Ollantaytambo railway station

We will begin our Machu Picchu 1-day tour from Ollantaytambo by picking you up from your Hotel in Ollantaytambo at 5:30 am or 6:30 am (depending on the train schedule) and transfer to Ollantaytambo train station (5 to 10 minutes by foot, based your hotel location) to board, either the Expedition Class Train at 6:10 am or Vistadome Superior Train at 07:05 am.

Then enjoy a leisure 1 hour and 30minutes train journey trip along the Urubamba River and through the Peruvian Andes, with phenomenal views of snow-capped mountains to lush jungle, overflowing with orchids and ferns until the Machu Picchu Pueblo (A.K.A Aguas Calientes), the town located at the base of Machu Picchu.

  • 1-Day Machu Picchu Tour from Urubamba

Very early in the morning (exact pick-up time will be confirmed, based on where you are staying), we will meet you at your hotel lobby located in Urubamba or Yanahuara town and we transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo (about 35 to 40 mins drive)

Here, you’ll board, either the Expedition Class Train at 6:10 am or Vistadome Superior Train at 07:05 am to Aguas Calientes that’ll take you through the stunning Andean mountainous landscape and mysterious Amazonian cloud forest.

After an incredible 2-hour journey, you’ll arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo, the closest to the most famous Inca ruins in South America, lies in the middle of a deep, green valley with a rushing river running through the middle, surrounded by immense mountains that seem to speak.

  • Machu Picchu 1 Day Tour from Cusco

Your epic day out begins at 04:00 am, when we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and then embark on a two hour drive in a private transport through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Ollantaytambo Train Station, where you will board, either the Expedition Class Train at 6:10 am or Vistadome Superior Train at 07:05 am to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes town).

Traveling to Machu Picchu by train is a spectacular journey through the Andean foothills following the Urubamba River, leading you into the cloud forest to arrive at the small town of Aguas Calientes.

Experience our Exclusive Machu Picchu Private Guided Tour starting from Aguas Calientes with a knowledgeable Tour Guide who will share fascinating insights and stories about the rich history and culture of the Incan people. Your Peru Spirit Adventure guide will meet you at your hotel or the Train Station in Aguas Calientes (depending on Machu Picchu entrance ticket time or the train schedule).

Once in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo)

We will then take a short walk from the train station (or from your hotel in Aguas Calientes) to the shuttle bus station to catch a bus that will take us on a 25-minute ride along the Hiram Bingham zig-zag road to the entrance to the Machu Picchu ruins. Once we disembark, we will pass the Machu Picchu checkpoint. Please note that you will need the original passport to pass the checkpoint (a copy will not be accepted)

Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, your tour guide will give you a 2-3h walking tour of the historic citadel. Where you’ll received detailed information about the culture and history of the of the Incas. You will be visiting most of the important sectors while you connect with nature and recharge your energies in this magnificent sacred place.

You will be astounded by amazing architecture and how innovative the Inca were for their time. At the end of the tour, we return to Aguas Calientes by bus to have time to explore the town, choose the restaurant of your preference, and buy souvenirs in the local market.

Later in the afternoon, you will board the Expedition Class Train at 14:55 pm, 15:20 pm, 16:22pm, or 16:43pm (subject to availability), or Vistadome Superior Train for the same times, 14:55pm or 15:20pm, 16:22pm, or 16:43pm for return trip to Ollantaytambo station from where you will be transferred to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.
