The ringed Incan ruins known as Moray have long been a mystery however what makes the ruins of Moray different from other Inca sites is that it is believed to have been used to test crops in a variety of microclimates, although for many it would not have been a center for agricultural research but a ceremonial place for worship and sacrifice.
However, some studies have shown that many of the terraces contain soil that must have been imported from other parts of the region.
Archaeologists believe that the 12 terraces generated microclimates, thanks to the temperature difference at each level, a difference of almost 5 °C was observed between the innermost and outermost terraces.
