We wake you up quite early with a steaming cup of coca tea to start the second day of our trekking and enjoy the breakfast. After breakfast, we begin our hike ascending gradually towards Incachiriasca pass (5,000 m / 16,404 feet), the highest of the entire route. We will be surrounded by snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and glacial lakes. After hiking for about 3 or 4 hours to the pass, you will enjoy the magnificent view. Where you will take some unique pictures of the Peruvian Andes. Then we start descending towards our lunch place, known Sisaypampa, a great place to observe the big Andean bird, called Condor of the Andes. Followed lunch, we keep descending to the second campsite with the name, Pampacahuana, it is a small community located at (3,700 m / 12,136 feet), next to an original ancient Inca canal, where the Inca harnessed the water from Mount Salkantay to irrigate their crops in the valleys below and which is still used today by local farmers. Due to the altitude, the temperatures can drop below freezing and there may be snow. Keep a good jacket with you. Later on at the campsite, we enjoy our happy hour “afternoon tea” and dinner, subsequently to go to sleep.

After a delicious breakfast, we start hiking through the valley of Pampacahuana community for 3 hours to reach to one of the first archeological site, called Paucarcancha (3,133 m / 10,276 feet). Where we´ll visit and get a comprehensive guided tour of the site. Subsequently, we have lunch nearby of the Inca site. After lunch, here is where we say goodbye to our muleteers and meet our porters who will be with us until we reach Machu Picchu along the classic or Traditional Inca trail. From Paucarcancha, we follow the Cusichaca valley to Huayllabamba (2,866 m / 9,400 feet) the last village of the 4-Days Classic Inca trail. Then we continue 4 hours uphill hike through many ecosystems and cloud forest to reach our campsite, known Llulluchapampa located at (3,800 m/ 12,467 feet).

Your porters will wake you up with a steaming hot cup of coca tea to enjoy the breakfast. After breakfast, we begin our expedition following an original Inca stone path for 2 hours to reach the highest point of the Classic Inca Trail called, (Dead Woman´s Pass 4,215 m / 13,829 feet). This climb is the most difficult part of the Inca trail. Upon reaching the summit, we take a short break to enjoy the spectacular view before setting off to the Pacaymayu Valley (Hidden River). From Dead Woman´s pass, we continue our walk down for an hour and a half to the lunch spot. After lunch, we begin to ascend for 2 hours again towards the pass of Runkurakay (3,900 m / 12,795 ft). On the way, we will stop at a small Inca site called Runkurakay. After the second highest point, we begin to descend for 1 hour to reach the next Inca site of Sayacmarca, where we stop to rest and explore, then we continue our trekking for 40 minutes until we reach our campsite of Chaquicocha (Dry Lake, 3,600 m / 11,808 feet). It is an excellent place to observe the fascinating Inca constellations of the Southern Hemisphere sky.

This day will be the most impressive day of the Inca trail. We will wake up at approximately 6 am and, after a breakfast, ascend towards the archeological site of Phuyupatamarca (a village in the clouds). From where we´ll have great views overlooking the Urubamba River, and we will get our first view of Machu Picchu Mountain. Continuing on for another 3 hours downhill, we will arrive at our final campsite (Wiñaywayna 2,650m / 8,694feet). On this day we will only hike about 4 or 5 hours, arriving at our final campsite. In the late afternoon, we will go to visit Wiñaywayna Inca site (forever young). We are one of the few companies that provide a guided tour of Wiñayhuayna site. In the evening we will say goodbye our crew. And we then go to sleep.

This day is the most important day for you. We will begin our final day by waking up very early, after breakfast, we will hike 1 hour to Intipuncu (sun gate, 2720m / 8923ft) before sunrise. From this point, we will have a magnificent view of Machu Picchu as the sun rises over the Inca city. We will then walk downhill for 1 hour to Machu Picchu ruins. After progressing through the checkpoint, your guide will give a 2-hour tour of the city, after which you will have free time to explore the ancient city by yourself. After a few hours, you will take a bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, where we will meet up with your guide again for lunch in this village. You will also be provided with your train ticket back to Ollantaytambo, from where you will be driven back to Cusco. Additionally, if you would like to book an extra ticket to Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu Mountain, book in advance. It is an additional cost.
